A Methodological Framework Based on Fuzzy Set Theory for Sustainable Landscape analysis

In the broad area of life sciences Landscaping can minimize the visual and physical impact of a building or development through masking the bulk and scale, and affect the microclimate, such as reducing the heat of the summer sun and absorbing storm water. A good understanding of the site and its surrounds is essential for a successful landscape design. Site analysis puts the site in its context for both the design and evaluation of the proposal .many processes cope with many forms of uncertainty, including subjective estimation and perception, the complexity of the studied systems, interaction of subsystems, lack of precise values, missing data, limited information processing capacity, or ambiguities in natural language Moreover, in Sustainable landscaping, this uncertainty is compounded by the fact that many Sustainable landscaping decisionmaking activities are often vague or based on intuition. The applications of knowledge management for land use, which may be generated from, or adapted to, fuzzy sets theory and fuzzy logic, are wide-ranging: numerical classification of soil and mapping, land evaluation, modeling and simulation of soil physical processes, soil quality indices and fuzzy measures of imprecisely defined water allocation. This paper considers a methodological framework based on fuzzy sets theory for landscape design and management. Some principles of development of the methodological framework are formulated. A characteristic application of the methodological framework in Attica Greece is presented. In particular knowledge management fuzzy models for GIS evaluation and site analysis. .
